The continued success of Creative Living requires maintaining high quality facilities and consistency in programming and support services. It takes over $900,000 each year to operate our organization.

Creative Living Income Pie ChartContributions make up one-third of our income. Financial and in-kind support from individuals, corporations, foundations, and service organizations is vitally important. With the changing climate in federal funding, such contributions will play an even bigger role in the future.

The current breakdown of contributions is illustrated below.

Creative Living Contributions

Your contributions had a great impact on Creative Living. Our accomplishments include:
- Creative Living provided affordable housing and support to 34 physically disabled individuals. Because of our facility design and program services our residents were given the invaluable opportunity to live independently in their own apartments. The supportive sense of community we provide helped new residents acquire skills to negotiate the unique challenges facing disabled individuals.

- The Resident Assistance Program is at the heart of our mission. Because of community support we were able to keep the fee to an affordable $200 each month for our residents. Despite increased program costs, we have been able to keep this fee steady since 2006 because of successful fund-raisers and campaigns.

- Due to the generosity of our donors, Creative Living's 2011 revenue increased by more than 20% over 2010, however, due to diligence in managing our expenses, we were able to limit our 2011 expense increases to less than 2%. As a result of our fiscally conservative efforts, we were able to increase the balance of our investments by an amount greater than our increase in revenue. These investments will allow us to continue to provide the vital services that our residents need on a daily basis in the event that public support decreases in the future.

- Creative Living benefits the entire community because we provide awareness and education for disability issues. The nature of our residential community means Creative Living neighbors encourage and share resources in negotiating the unique challenges facing physically disabled. In addition, many of our Resident Assistants are students pursing medical degrees and our training and experience provided through employment has benefited those individuals.

- If Creative Living did not exist, envision our 34 current residents who most certainly would be living in skilled nursing facilities because of a lack of suitable housing (affordable and accessible), lack of on-site assistance, aging parents unable to care for them, physical problems that family members cannot handle, no family available, isolation, and inability to care for themselves. Skilled nursing facilities have made great strides but still do not provide for the needs of young individuals with severe disabilities pursuing education and employment which fulfills the potential of each individual.
